Images are constantly being added to the collection and recent topical areas of growth include Mediterranean wildlife, the Amazon rainforest and whales.

The library manager, Dr Paul Sterry, is not only an established photographer but also a trained biologist whose knowledge of the subject has helped organise the structure of the library and assists the job of picture researchers on a day-to-day basis.
